Event Recap: Chamber Classic Golf Tournament 2022

Dozens of participants teed off in a lively and competitive tournament on the greens as The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers (BCCEC) closed out the month of October with its highly anticipated Chamber Golf Classic Tournament.


The event which was held on Sunday, October 30th at Baha Mar's Royal Blue Golf Club saw 23 teams - 46 players total - contend for phenomenal prizes and bragging rights. The winners are as follows:

  • 1st place prizeFrancis Adderley and Richard Gibson Team Fidelity Bank: (2) 7-night Caribbean cruise for two in an oceanview stateroom sponsored by Royal Caribbean Cruise lines

  • 2nd place prize (we had a tie!) - Kenneth Gibson and Trevor Gibson Team Another Man's Treasure AND Jim Laroda and John Reckley Team Fidelity Bank – iPhone 11s donated by Aliv and a weekend stay with dinner for 2 donated by Comfort Suites.

  • Closest to the Pin winner – Jimi Thompson Team Simplified Lending

  • Longest Drive Men winner – Richard Gibson Jr. Team Fidelity

  • Longest Drive Women winner – Wendy Warren Team Scotiabank

Part proceeds from the event will be donated to the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group. The group's mission is to provide supportive care, encouragement, coping skills, resources, strength, and hope for all who have or had cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in The Bahamas.


The event also served as a great networking opportunity for Chamber members. BCCEC Chairperson Krystle Rutherford-Ferguson touted the success of the event, and the strong turnout and thanked the various sponsors for their support and patronage of the event.


Mrs. Rutherford-Ferguson stated, Overall, we had a great day at the BCCEC classic golf tournament. The weather was beautiful and our members, sponsors, directors, staff, and participants put their best forward to support the BCCEC and this event. Players of all skill levels were invited to join the BCCEC for a day of friendly competition and networking on the beautiful course at the Baha Mar Resort’s Royal Blue Golf Club, for this two (2) Person Scramble event.”


Mrs. Rutherford-Ferguson added, “Participants and guests had the opportunity to network, mingle, and raise their company’s profile in a fun and relaxed setting among leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators. The networking reception was a blast as prizes and awards were presented, all while hearing from our event sponsor, Nassau Cruise Port and some of our other corporate sponsors. Part proceeds of our tournament will be donated to the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group and could not be more proud of all of the support that we received. Our continued efforts in supporting the business community and the community in general afforded us the opportunity to reach out to great corporate sponsors.”


Mike Maura Jr, CEO, and Director of the Nassau Cruise Port Ltd - the event sponsor- said that NCPL was proud to sponsor the golf classic tournament and also acknowledged the importance of Chamber's efforts and continued advocacy on issues impacting the business community.


The Grand Prize Sponsor of the event was Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines with other sponsors including Comfort Suites, Summit Insurance, Cable Bahamas Business Solutions, Think Simple, Leno Bahamas, Island Pay, Higgs and Johnson, The Paint Place, Commonwealth Bank, Plato Alpha, Maran Global, Rentokil and The Wine and Spirit Guys, and more.
